Installed the new brown, aluminum clad, Pella Renovation windows that arrived last week. The first one took me somewhere in the neighborhood of two hours to install; the second, probably 45 minutes.
The windows were replaced in the late 70s early 80s after a fire in this room. The sashes themselves were in good shape, but the aluminum tracks fit like a saddle on a sow; you could see daylight through them. Needless to say in the winter, it was drafty in this room. The window frames were scorched from the fire, so this seemed the easiest and quickest solution (albeit not the cheapest). I like the simplicity with which they slid into the existing opening. Honestly, I would consider getting more of them were the situation right.
Let the burning in effigy begin.
